The Illinois Student Assistance Commission announces its State Scholar Finalists each fall. Students from nearly every high school in Illinois compete in the program. These top performing seniors are selected based on their ACT or SAT scores and their class rank at the end of their junior year. The students rank in approximately the top ten percent of graduates from Illinois high schools, designating their strong academic standing. The Illinois State Scholar designation is a non-monetary award, however it is a tremendous achievement that students can list on college admission and scholarship applications. I am happy to announce that the Rockridge High School Class of 2025 has a total of SEVENTEEN Illinois State Scholars! These students were honored at the November Board Meeting and are listed on a banner that will hang in the State Trophy Case. In addition, these students will be recognized with a certificate and special medallion next May during the Academic Awards Night Program. This year's Illinois State Scholars are Estellah Bognar, Lily Bohnsack, Ava Craver, Charlie Edwards, Alexandra Ehrhardt, Neva Graves, Jackson Hofer, Morgan Hofer, Emily Lathrop, Laikyn Parchert, Emma Redlinger, Lynzi Redman, Ross Richhart, Zachary Smith, Aiden Stahr, Claire Stanforth, & Eriona Zulku.

Mrs. Neece's Middle Ages History class had the honor of viewing a riveting webinar featuring Holocaust survivor Sol Nayman. After the invasion of his hometown of Stoczek-Wegrowski, Poland, by the Nazis in 1939, Sol and his family were sent to a work camp in Syktyvkar, USSR. His stories and pictures of survival were engrossing as he highlights the dangers of Anti-Semitism and hate.
