PTO updates from our meeting tonight! Thanks to all who joined!
The JH Track Meet at Mon-Rose tonight has been postponed. The team is on its way back and should return around 3:45 pm for pickup.
The 2023 RHS Academic Awards Night originally scheduled for May 10th will now be held Tuesday, May 9th at 6:30 pm. Invites to honored students will be sent no later than Monday, May 1st.
Andalusia selects two students for the Illinois Principal Association Award each year. It is with honor to announce Avery Kampmann and Owen Wolfe this year! We are so proud of them! Mrs. Corlett joined them at the IPA breakfast as both a teacher and future Principal!
The Faculty and Staff at Rockridge High School are pleased to announce that Payton Brown has been chosen as the Student of the Month for April, 2023. Ms. Brown is the daughter of Jason & Diana Brown of Edgington and is a senior at Rockridge High School.
Payton reports that her favorite classes this year have been Psychology & Sociology with Mrs. Neece. Payton is an honor student who currently serves as the Treasurer of the National Honor Society. She is an accomplished softball player who has been a key component in the Rockets’ back-to-back undefeated IHSA State Championships and our state record 73-game winning streak. Payton recently broke the Rockridge School Record for most home runs in a career and continues to push the record as the season progresses.
Outside of school, Ms. Brown plays for the Heartland Havoc ’05 travel softball team. She also gives hitting lessons to younger players with Coach Nelson. In her spare time she reports that she likes to spend time with family and friends and enjoys watching hockey and basketball. She and her family attend the Assembly of God Church in Aledo, IL.
Payton’s teachers had the following to say about her:
• Math Teacher Mrs. Angela DeKeyrel said, “Payton does a terrific job in Calculus. She is a quick learner and can apply what she has learned in a variety of ways. She definitely has a mathematical brain and I enjoy having her as a student.”
• Social Studies Teacher Mrs. Brandee Neece added, “Payton Brown is a hard-working, extremely humble student-athlete who is heavily involved in the numerous activities of NHS. Her work ethic is outstanding and her investiture in her academic performance is very apparent in everything she does within the classroom. She is a constant figure working in the Rocket Closet and was an integral part of the success of the recent Community Easter Egg Hunt for the Rockridge children. Besides that, Payton has a wonderful disposition in how she interacts with her peers and the RHS staff, always upbeat and joyful in her behavior. She is also a wonderful role model for younger Rockridge students who look up to her as a record-breaker on the Rockridge softball team.”
• Spanish Teacher Mrs. Joy Carter stated, “Payton Brown has always excelled at Spanish. Besides her academic excellence, she gives 100% in class every day and is always ready for the next challenge. Payton is a true joy to have in class!”
Next fall, Payton plans to attend Illinois State University to continue her softball career and to pursue a degree in Elementary Education.

Aloha! Andalusia is hosting a Book Fair Luau! Families are invited to come check out artwork, the book fair, and Kona Ice will be here for families to purchase as well. All are welcome to enjoy some fun!

Softball's make-up date against Mercer County is TBD
Baseball will play tomorrow, 4/5. Varsity will be at Rock Island, and F/S will be home vs. RI.
All Rockridge Schools will dismiss at 1:30 pm on Tue April 4 out of an abundance of caution with today's severe weather forecast.

A possibility exists that we may need to dismiss school between 1:00-1:30 pm tomorrow due to the current weather prediction.
We will make this call no later than 10:00 am tomorrow, April 4th.

Reminder of the 2nd Annual NHS Easter Egg Hunt Sunday at 2 pm at the RHS Football Field. PLEASE NOTE: Parking is prohibited in all grassy areas due to Friday's rain. Please park on the hard surface lots only!
