The district had two more stop arm violations — one yesterday afternoon and one this morning — both on a major highway running through our district. Remember: Yellow means slow down, Red means stop.
As soon as the bus doors open, activating the red lights, stop arms, and cross arm, any vehicle that proceeds is breaking the law.
The video below from this mornings incident shows exactly what NOT to do when approaching a school bus loading or unloading students.

🚨 School Bus Safety Reminder 🚨 This morning, two vehicles illegally passed a stopped school bus as it was picking up a student for school.
➡️ The yellow warning lights were activated 14 seconds before the bus stopped, giving both drivers plenty of time to prepare.
➡️ From the moment the bus stopped to when it started moving again was less than 15 seconds. If convicted, these drivers now face a minimum $300 fine in addition to a minimum 3-month license suspension—all because they could not wait 15 seconds for a child to safely board their bus.
⚠️ Please remember: When a school bus stops and its lights are flashing, the law requires YOU to stop. A child’s life is worth far more than saving a few seconds on your commute.
Correction - K-2 Parents, please make sure you keep your student’s bus tag on your student’s backpack for the whole year. If you need a new one, please reach out to Jesi Housby (jhousby@rr300.org)! - Mrs. Saey
